Had these before and just replacing worn out shoes. I have pairs of these 10 or more years old they do exactly what they should.This old design seems more durable and harder wearing than the newer designs.Maybe that’s the idea the new styles wear out quickly so you need to replace sooner. That’s why I returned to these old favourites.

Very comfortable straight from the box
I bought these to replace my old interceptors. I had walked over 4 million steps in the last pair and I had been pleased with the fit, and comfort, of them, so it was an obvious choice to replace them with the same shoe. They arrived today (ahead of schedule) and I’ve already been for my first walk in them. Comfortable straight from the box. A great walking shoe.

Do not bother to buy any other walking shoe
I have just bought my second pair, these really are excellent for comfort and for walking in, no need to wear them in. The only point I would make is that they are a very snug tight fit. My shoes size is 9 and I have normal sized feet and yet I have to order a size 10 UK for these shoes so suggest you add on a size regardless of what it says about the sizing.

A great shoe, well made, great construction, and feels solid. As you’d expect from a Merrell.As others have stated in reviews, there does seem to be a sizing issue on these ones – with other Merrells I’ve had before I just order my normal UK 11 and they’re perfect – but given the amount of people saying order at least a size larger, I did just that, and I’m glad I did. I went for a UK12, and they fit like any other 11 (for my feet, others may differ).Had I ordered the 11’s, I fear they would have been a bit clippy on my feet. So well worth ordering a size up from your normal.This could be an issue in mis-labelled stock, or American sizes that have been shipped claiming to be UK etc. Who knows…..but you don’t normally get this kind of thing from Merrell, so it must be an error of some kind. Other ones I’ve had before have all been fine, and sizing consistent.Overall though, sizing issue aside (which I’d averted thanks to other commenters) they’re a fab pair of shoes capable of all weathers thanks to their chunky and grippy soles. Thumbs up.

Great shoe, but slightly on the small side
The shoe is lightweight and very comfortable, with the famous Merrill soul, making it an excellent option for many activities. I normally take a size 8 in all my foot ware, but had to return these shoes as the size 8 was a little tight. I ordered a half size up and got a good fit. Overall very pleased with these shoes.

Second pair as good as the first
Bought my first pair of these about 10 years ago! Amazed they still manufacture an sell the same shoe. Mine are pretty worn out now but still used regularly so thought treat to new pair. Contrary to what some people have said they appear to be exactly the same as my previous pair (except colour) Appear to be same build quality etc. Obviously time will tell but i love these new ones as much as the old. Also these were comfortable on first use. They will get even better over the next month as they get worn in. Top purchase.

Excellent, practical hiking & all purpose quality shoe.This is my fourth pair in over 10 years on near constant wear – walking, hiking, gigging – whatever, the shoe is excellent in all informal occasions and is supremely comfortable.One point to note is that sizing appears to have changed as highlighted in some other reviews.My previous 3 pairs over the last 10 years all fitted perfectly at size 10. However on this purchase in Aug 2020, I found the 10.5 was the perfect fit.No evidence to suggest my feet have increased in size over the last 10 yrs so may be useful to consider.Overall, quality remains excellent as ever and after just returning from a few days hiking in Glencoe, the shoes have performed as comfortably and robust as ever.Totally recommended.Buy with confidence!

Nice but a tight fit.
Stylish walking shoes. Appear to be well made as you would expect from Merrell. Comfortable straight from the box but they are a snug/narrow fit as others have mentioned. I normally wear a 7 to 7.5 and bought the 7.5. Size 8 would have been perfect. The 7.5 are ok for me but if you were wearing thick walking socks you would definitely want to go up a bit in size. As for longevity, only time will tell.

Best long term walking shoes
My second pair. Bought in case these are discontinued.My first pair were bought exclusively for dog walking during the first Covid lockdown. I was doing a lot of that for shielding dog owners we know, and wanted some proven robust walking shoes.They soon became my go-to shoes for every day. I cycle in them, wear them casually, and still walk lots of miles in them.After 8 months and many miles the tread is wearing down on the heels but the shoes remain supportive and comfortable. They also don’t smell, which is a marked improvement on much-worn trainers and shoes I’ve had in the past.

Geart fit and comfort
I already have these in blue (from a Department Store for considerably more money) so was aware of how comfortable and hard wearing they are, and I couldn’t resist getting them again. I usually take a size 9.5 or 10 UK – these are a 10 and fit perfectly. I couldn’t see this model on the Merrell website so maybe they no longer make them – perhaps I better order another pair!
